After finally making it to Lombok and setting up a base we needed to get our bearings and start exploring the island. Enter the ubiquitous scooter. After a small amount of contemplation re: safety etc. we decided to rent one for 5$ a day as it really was the most efficient (and enjoyable) way to get around. Basically, it was 2 wheeled freedom :)

Over the next 5 or so day we explored the island checkout the beaches, and I went surfing. Well I tried to surf anyways. My surfing skills fall woefully short in Indo, and just about everywhere else for the matter, but especially here. The waves are sooo strong. They arrive from ay out in the Indian ocean, coming straight in from the deep water to break on the reefs which surround most parts of all the islands.
Despite my lack of skill I still had fun. Anywhere I can paddle out in beautiful warm blue water is a treat and something that I always enjoy. :)
